He’s just Ausome!

Thank you everyone for your kind words and well wishes these past couple of months I have been taking a break from Meg’s A Mommy! I am happy to announce that I am back, and ready to blog it all again.

In August, my son was diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder. While I won’t be going too in depth on it on this blog, I have to tell  you that it was quite a bit to deal with in the beginning, so that’s why I decided to put MAM on the back burner for a bit while we got started.

We had noticed that he had been having some developmental delays, especially with speaking and social skills – and when his third birthday came around, we set aside our denial and got him evaluated and diagnosed. We are so glad that we did, because things have been happening quickly ever since. He is in school now, in an ASD classroom working with wonderful teachers and therapists, and LOVES it. He rides the bus to school all by himself, which if you told me before I had babies that I would have a 3 year old riding the bus? Nuh uh. But he looks forward to it everyday. Even on weekends, the first words out of his mouth are “School Bus?”.

It’s just the beginning for our journey, but we have always had an Ausome kid, so the diagnosis didn’t really change that – But the greatest thing is that we are starting to understand him better and able to get him what he needs to remain the happiest, smartest, most beautiful kid we know. It’s really great. We are still navigating this new world, and so grateful to have so many people supporting him, and showing him all of the love and respect he deserves.

So thank you – and if you also have an Ausome kid of your own, I would love to hear from you!
