We celebrated Father’s Day on Saturday. My Parents and my sister came over and played with the kids while I fixed dinner in the kitchen and my husband manned the grill. We don’t entertain much these days, so it was really great having everyone over to our house for a change.
It was a hot day, and luckily our air conditioner wasn’t acting up so we mostly hung out inside, comfortably chatting and watching the babies play. Our son had a ball showing papa his letters and how to jump on his trampoline, he even sang a few songs for everyone – completely showing off his cuteness. He feels comfortable when they visit, and even though he did disappear in his fashion every once in a while, he was really very present with everyone. My mom even got a rare “I loves you” from him before she left. Of course that made her day!
During dinner – we had steak and grilled sweet potatoes YUM! – the baby blew raspberries at everyone, and we all laughed at her cuteness. This, was of course after about an hour of screaming on her part – she’s been having some anxiety issues, but she finally let papa hold and rock her without incident. She must have known it was Father’s day! It had been a month or so since she has let anyone but me or her dad hold her.
After dinner, I gave my dad his present. I was so excited. My dad can be hard to buy for, but this was a no-brainer. I had a picture of baby girl when she was 3 months old printed up on 16×20 canvas – her blue eyes sparkling – from UPrinting.com. It came out gorgeous. I almost kept the piece for myself – but I will definitely be getting more printed up for my home soon! I picked out a nice frame for it and gave it to him for Father’s Day. He, of course, loved it too. I can’t wait to see where he puts it up in his house.
It was such a wonderful time, and made me very grateful for my family. I loved cooking for the two special men in my life!
